Biography
"I Love Photography" Photography:
the art or process of producing images on a sensitized surface (as a film by the action of radiant energy and especially light).
I try to capture reality (frozen time). The reality I concentrate on the most is Nature (while we still have it). Almost all of the time I shoot in Manual mode, I find camera light meters can't always get it right to my eyes. I also like knowing that I took the photo not the cameras computer chip. I post information on all my photos with Technical Details: ex. f/stop, iso, lens, shutter speed, etc... This was much harder in the film days. I had to write it all down but with digital it's easy. I post the detail so that someone who likes my photos can learn, or at least have an idea on how it was done. I compress photos to a size of usually less than 100KB. The reason why I do this is so no matter how slow or fast you connect to internet you will be able to see the photos quickly. The negative to this is compression can cause artifacts to be in the photo. I do try to keep it acceptable for viewing but if you look hard you might be able to see it . This is not viewable in prints because no compression is used ex. a photo posted here is about 50-100k with compression, the same without compression is 340k, before resizing it can be up to a 12meg file. As you can see the compression is needed for internet display but not for prints. Some History Before my step into Canon DSLR's, I used a Canon EOS Elan II and Elan IIe 35mm film cameras (I thought the Elan IIe eye control focus was garbage, it just didn't like my eye). I had two cameras so I could have two different film speeds on demand. One was always iso 100 or lower the other was usually iso 800 or 400. I also use to have two Minolta X-700's 35mm film cameras. One of my old X-700's I now have a Canon 40D to replace my old Canon 10D. I did a high ISO wide open Aperture test between my 5D and 40D <-- click to see and was very happy with my 40D. For its price it was equal if not better (in some areas) then my 5D All the photos I have posted here are taken with my DSLR's, my Canon 40D, 5D or my Canon 10D (unless stated otherwise). This made sharing photos so much easier because it took the developing, scanning and corrections work out of it. So I don't miss film any more! Here is a photo of the cameras I use presently.
